Using visual communication technology, the President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, inaugurated the activities of the 15th annual Career Week and Career Fair under the title “My Job from My University”. Participating in the event are 30 companies from various sectors, including 10 startups.
The Week, organized by the Career Guidance Office at the Deanship of Admissions and Registration with the participation of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship located at PSUT, aims to build bridges with the labor market, open communication channels for students and graduates of the University with the government and private sectors, and display outstanding graduation projects.
In his opening speech, Prof. Al-Refai said “The University has never seen its job as being over at the moment students receive their graduation certificates. Rather, it goes on to closely monitor their careers.” He noted that the PSUT graduate has a competitive advantage with many companies, and that the percentage of graduates who find employment in the first six months after graduation is 90%.
Al-Refai affirmed that the University, under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the Chair of its Board of Trustees, has sought to link its specializations to the labor market by forming advisory committees within its Schools with the aim of mapping the labor market and its needs. The University has spared no effort in offering specialized training programs for its students and in working to build relationships with local, international and regional companies, to enable its graduates to enter the labor market with the widest possible horizons before them.
In turn, the Human Capital Manager at ProgressSoft Corporation, Khaleel Asal, expressed his happiness at being able to participate in the event, praising the standard and skills of PSUT’s students and graduates, which serve to increase the desire of companies to employ and cooperate with them.
On the sidelines of Career Week, the University, began training 55 students “remotely”, within a program held by the (ESCWA) Technology Center through 5 international projects in the field of knowledge production and technological capacity building. This training focuses on personal skills, work skills, project management and work ethics within the United Nations.
Last year, PSUT organized its annual Career Week on the sidelines of the national conference “Aligning PSUT Specialization Programs with the Labor Market Needs” with the participation of 63 institutions and companies, which offered training and employment opportunities for university graduates. There was also an exhibition dedicated to the display of 25 outstanding graduation projects.
