AMMAN — HRH Princess Sumaya, chair of the board of trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, on Wednesday attended the closing ceremony of the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Week which was held at the university.

The week’s activities aimed at enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship among youth and others in society as well as raising awareness of their role in supporting the modern economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The 10th annual event, organised by the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) at the university, attracted more than 50 institutions representing the public sector, universities, nonprofit organisations, associations and diplomatic missions.

A total of 143 workshops, events and various activities were held during the week in all the governorates of the Kingdom.

Princess Sumaya said that realising sustainable development was associated with developing education, the investment environment and entrepreneurship, adding that the aspirations and hopes of peoples will not be achieved unless they enjoy comprehensive sustainable development and a solid economy.

The Princess highlighted the importance of enhancing public-private sector partnership, providing an incubating environment for entrepreneurship and investing in entrepreneurial ideas that can be transformed into productive projects.

She also expressed her appreciation for the university’s achievements and activities, voicing her gratitude for QRCE for supporting the week’s events.

QRCE Director Mohammed Obeidat praised the role of participating and supporting parties in rendering the event a success, noting that the week was launched in more than 170 countries around the world at the same time, in a bid to stimulate youth to adopt entrepreneurship and serve their societies.
